Geography

Choose a subject:

At Heybridge, we believe that the geography curriculum should enable our children to have an understanding and knowledge of the world, its interconnectedness and their place in it.  Geography is an investigative subject, which develops an understanding of concepts, knowledge and skills.  Children learn how to work as geographers, developing their skills through the studies of places, people and natural and human environments.  Our curriculum will endeavour to teach children what it means to have a deeper understanding and awareness of the natural global phenomena and to widen their experience of the environment away from their homes.

The National Curriculum states that: A high-quality geography education should inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.”

Skills taught in Geohraphy lessons will include:

  • Location and place knowledge
  • Human and physical geography
  • Fieldwork

At Heybridge, we are situated in a peaceful vast setting, with access to an extensive amount of land. Within our outdoor space, we have a forest area. Children will have access to Forest Schools lessons every year and will develop their confidence, independence and knowledge of the natural wrold around them.
