SEND
At Heybridge Primary we believe that all pupils are entitled to an appropriate education that enables them to fulfil their potential. We are committed to developing an inclusive and supportive learning environment that removes barriers to learning and allows every child to be successful.
Our school SENCO is Kimberley Lane.
Her SENCO email is: senco@heybridge-tkat.org
You can find further details of how we do this in our SEND Information Report which can be found here.

We believe that:
“Every teacher is a teacher of SEND and every leader is a leader of SEND”
Our provision for pupils with SEND is woven into everything we do and we aim to support all pupils to achieve and develop by:
- treating each pupil as an individual and taking into account their particular strengths and needs
- helping each pupil to achieve their full potential
- providing a safe and inclusive learning environment
- working in partnership with parents / carers to support their child’s progress
We know that many pupils will find things difficult at times and we encourage parents to speak to their child’s teacher in the first instance. Providing support for pupils begins in the classroom, through high-quality teaching which is adapted as appropriate to individual pupil needs. This may also be supplemented through targeted intervention and support. If a pupil has a special educational need or disability, the SENDCo will work with teachers and other staff to identify strategies and support to help the pupil make progress. A plan will be written which will set out the pupil’s strengths and needs, how the needs can be supported and targets set. These plans are reviewed three times a year and parents will be included in the review.
Accessibility Plan
We want all pupils to be able to participate fully in school life. We are also aware that other users of our school site may have a range of disabilities. We aim to reduce and eliminate barriers, improve access to our curriculum and encourage full participation in the wider school community. Our school Accessibility Plan which sets out the ways in which we aim to achieve this through:
Education and related activities - increasing the extent to which pupils with disabilities can participate in the school curriculum
Physical environment - improve the physical environment of the school to increase the extent to which anyone with a disability can take advantage of education and associated services, including pupils, parents, staff and visitors
Provision of information - improve the availability of information in a variety of alternative formats for pupils and parents, when necessary
