Admissions
The Governing Body of Heybridge Primary School welcome applications for admission to the school from parents who wish their children to be admitted in the September of the school year in which they become 5 years of age. Parents should apply by post or online to the Local Education Authority by the closing date.
Applications received after the closing date will be considered by the LEA and added to this list.
The current published admission number (PAN) for Heybridge Primary School is 60 for 2024/25 and it will remain at 60 for the 2025/26 academic year.
Where applications for admission exceed the number of places available, the following criteria will be applied, in the order set out below, to determine which children to admit:
- Looked after or previously looked after children;
- Medical or social needs
- Whether the child has a brother or sister attending the school
- Proximity of home to school by straight line distance, those living nearer being given the highest priority.
If you have any other admissions queries or would like to make an appointment to visit the School as a prospective parent / carer, please don't hesitate to contact the School Office on 01621 854082 option 1.
Appeals against admission decisions.
Your appeal will be heard at what is called a Hearing, within a time scale of 40 school days from 14th May 2025. It is likely to be heard at the end of June.
All other appeals known as 'in-year' admissions and those for Year R submitted after 14th May 2025 will be heard within 30 school working days of submitting the request.
Your appeal request should state your reasons for your request and any additional information/documentation/appendices should be submitted five days before the Hearing to allow time for it to be copied and distributed to all the interested parties. At least 10 working days before your appeal, unless you choose to waive this right, you will be sent detailed information regarding the process and also the date and names of the independent panel members who will hear the appeal.
The school is unable to guarantee that any original work/evidence/folders, submitted as part of the appeal, will be returned. Appellants may wish to submit copies in advance and then take important original documents verifying evidence to the appeal.
If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Mid Year Admissions
The process for mid year admissions is handeled through the school directly and the Local Authority do not have any part in this. To make an application please complete the Mid Year Admission Form and return it via email (office@heybridge-tkat.org) to the school office who will process this for you. You will then be notified if a space is available in the year group required, if there are no spaces available and you wish to be added to the waiting list you will need to complete the Waiting List Request Form. If we have space for your child in the required year group we will then start the admission process. Ms Speller requires all new starters to tour the school with her or a member of the Senior Leadership Team. This is so new families can get a feel for the school and you can be introduced to the ways in which we work here at Heybridge Primary.
