Here you will be able to access a range of information regarding the support we provide for children and families to ensure our wellbeing as part of the school community.

Why we believe wellbeing is important.

In order to help our children succeed, we realise that we have an important role to play in promoting resilience and supporting positive mental health.

We utilise a whole school approach: consistency with classroom layouts and visual aids e.g. signage and use of interactive boards, lesson planning and transmission, consistency with the use of the school behaviour policy and a restorative approach to behaviour. Our school is trauma informed, this means all adults will notice and react quickly to a child that appears to be struggling so the correct levels of support can be provided at the earliest opportunity to ensure our children bounce back and can develop not just academically, but socially and emotionally.

The support we provide 

At Heybridge we provide a whole range of tailored support to cater for our children and their needs to ensure equality of provision throughout the school and inclusive practice is maintained for everyone. This includes SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) support, pastoral and SEMH (Social Emotional Mental Health) support, and our ACE (A Champion for Every Child) programme. This means whatever life throws at you, and your children, we will do all we can to ensure your child receives the support they need to stay mentally and emotionally healthy. 

How you can access additional support

A member of staff may contact you if we believe your child may benefit from additional support.

If you, as a parent or carer, have a concern you would like to discuss there are a number of ways to initiate the conversation:

Talk to a familiar face on the playground meet and greet in the mornings or afternoons

Arrange a meeting with the class teacher

Telephone the school and arrange to come in for a more personal meeting with a school leader such as the Head or the Deputy Head Teacher.

How can the children seek support

Staff at Heybridge know the children well and plan targeted provision for children that need it most. However, if a child needs or would like additional wellbeing support that is not in place already, they can speak to any member of staff or place a note in their worry box. 

However you or your child choose to speak to us about any concerns you may have rest assured that we will always have your child’s best interests at heart and we will work alongside you to ensure your children’s time at Heybridge is a positive experience laying firm foundations for a successful school career that fosters positive mental, social and emotional health.
